Description:

A reinvention of the Catholic devotion of the Seven Sorrows of Mary — the sword of Simeon's prophecy rendered in ink and acrylic. The mixed media surface carries the weight of a mother's grief with the directness of a contemporary hand.

Inspiration:

Luke 2:32 — "A sword will pierce your soul." The Seven Sorrows as the shape of maternal love before the mystery of the Cross.
