Cross At Sunset

Our Mission

Epiphany Art is a community of Christian artists from all parts of the world, united by a simple conviction: that making something, with care and skill, is itself an act of worship.

Mission statement

Epiphany Art is a community of Christian artists from all denominations and traditions. We believe in the ongoing conversation between faith and the visual arts.

We believe that making something is, at its heart, an act of worship. Art has the power to make the unseen visible, to communicate truth, and to open people to something they hadn’t expected to find.

We welcome painters, printmakers, potters, sculptors, poets and musicians from all major Christian traditions and from all parts of the world. We’re also open to those of other faiths who share our commitment to creativity in the service of meaning, beauty and truth.

Our values

At the heart of everything we do are two values: love and truth. Christ described himself as the way, the truth and the life — and those words shape how we think about art, community and creativity.

In practice, those values show up as:

  • Courage — the willingness to create with honesty and vulnerability

  • Creativity — a commitment to excellence and originality in artistic practice

  • Diversity — a genuine welcome across denominations, traditions, cultures and disciplines

  • Community — the belief that artists grow through relationship, not in isolation

  • Dialogue — a conviction that questions and theological reflection matter as much as answers

Our aims

Everything we do is shaped by four core aims:

  1. To explore and deepen the relationship between art and faith in contemporary culture.

  2. To bring the work of artists of faith to the attention of the church and the wider public.

  3. To provide opportunities for mutual support, encouragement and creative exchange among our members.

  4. To serve as a focus for all forms of creativity that arise from, or are inspired by, Christian faith.

What we believe about art

We believe art has something to offer the church and the world that very little else can — the ability to make the unseen visible, to communicate what resists words, to open a door rather than close an argument.

Pope John Paul II put it plainly in his 1999 letter to artists: “The church needs art. The world needs art.” Pope Francis has described artists as people who help us ask the questions that matter most — about purpose, direction, beauty, and what it means to be human.

At Epiphany Art, we believe God’s Spirit works through artists — not only Christian artists, but wherever truth and beauty are pursued with integrity. Our calling is to gather those artists whose faith is the animating force of their creative life, and to give their work a platform worthy of it.
